Compare health insurance plans - Click “Get Quotes Now” button near the top of the page to get rate quotes from A-rated health insurance companies. Note: Before you purchase a plan be sure to ask your agent if it’s ACA (Affordable Care Act) compliant. Get a managed care plan – Managed care plans include HMOs (Health Maintenance Organizations), and PP0s (Preferred Provider Organizations). These plans are much cheaper than traditional fee-for-service plans because you are restricted to using health care providers and hospitals within the plan’s network. HMOs – With an HMO you pay a monthly fee for which you are assigned a network of health care providers and hospitals you can use for your medical needs. Health care services include doctor visits, emergency services, hospital stays, surgeries, physical therapy, x-rays, and lab tests. PPOs – PPOs are similar to HMOs with the exception that you can use doctors that are not part of the PPO network and still be reimbursed. Increase your deductible – The deductible is the amount of money you have to pay before your insurance kicks in. By increasing your deductible you can save hundreds of dollars on your premiums. Just make sure you have enough set aside to pay the deductible. Get on your parent’s health plan – If you’re under 26 years of age you may be able to get insurance with your parent’s plan, even if you’re not currently living with them. Get Medicaid – If you have a limited income, or are disabled, you may be eligible for Medicaid coverage. To see if you’re eligible, visit your state’s department of health insurance, or go to https://www.healthcare.gov/. Get CHIP (Children's Health Insurance Program) coverage  - CHIP provides health care to children in families with incomes that are too high to qualify for Medicaid, but can't afford private insurance. To see if you qualify go to  https://www.healthcare.gov/. Get catastrophic health insurance – Catastrophic health insurance is designed to cover you for major Illnesses or injuries. With these plans your premiums are cheaper than other plans, but your out-of-pocket expenses for such things as doctor visits, and prescription drugs are more expensive. If you’re relatively young and in good health these can be some of the cheapest health insurance plans available. Join an association or group – If you belong to an association or group, or if you can join one, check to see if they have an insurance plan. Group medical insurance is generally less expensive than individual medical insurance because the insurer’s risk is spread across a number of members.
